"Too Bridge and Amend"

The power of forgiveness, so rarely used.  Throughout the ages, people have become angry with someone close.  It is sometimes so amazing that the littlest of disagreements can forge an enemy for life.  It is one of the great qualities of being a “Real Christian” that all offenses can be made right by the power of forgiveness. So many times we give lip service to our religious ideals.  As if God does not see what we think?  We go through life pretending to be good people, and we have hate in our hearts?

The high command from Jesus is to love others as he loved us.  That was the third and final command he spoke of.  If you say you believe in Christianity, God, and the church.  You cannot hate your brother whom you see, and say you love God who you cannot see.  The Lord’s Prayer, written so well, it never lets us escape without forgiving.  It is so sad that so many people spend their lives angry with a family member.  It seems family is the most damage form of love there is.  Cain and Able, the first family was full of hate.

All those who choose to continue to hold a grudge and not apologize.  They suffer, for how can they truly be happy when they have hate in their hearts?  There’s nothing more joyous than coming to terms with someone over a disagreement.  I consider friends to be just as equal as family.  If you’ve had a falling out with one of your best friends over an issue that has caused discord, it is the saddest thing.  Friends are few. . . especially the close ones.  I would do whatever I could to restore a broken friendship.

Sometimes, you can only pray to God.  God is love, and only love can banish hatred out of someone’s heart.  We really do not realize how much we depend on a spiritual solution to our problems.  The problems in life that causes the greatest depression, loneliness, and hopelessness are the ones where we lose the ones we love.  If we could rise above our human nature and pray for the ones we love, God would do what is best for all concerned.  As Christians, our greatest strength is to bridge the amends.  May I find time to think over things that make or made me angry with a person.  I hope in that moment of reflection, I can see how God thought of me.
