This is our America
It seems sad that Black groups for civil rights can only focus on complaining about how long it took to get help and quarantine the efforts to move over 50,000 thousand people. I must say, I have not heard one of these black groups speak up and say we will donate and have donated money to help the people in New Orleans and others areas hit. I have not heard these rich blacks offer to take people into their homes, and I have not heard them say they are going to New Orleans to help with civil unrest. It is an old issue and bringing up race as an excuse is bad timing and bad faith. This tragedy is way beyond black people; there are many races that have lost all in this Katrina attack.
When I hear about rape and robbery in the Superdome, I have to wonder would that be happening with white people? It is not the fault of whites when there is black on black crime; it is not white peoples fault when there is rape in the superdome. It is not right for black leaders to complain when it is white people opening their homes to these blacks and all other races in the superdome. This is not a time to rehash slavery. Whites were slaves in history to the Middle Eastern countries; Latin folks have had slaves black and others. So, yes slavery is a bad thing. However, the Bible in the New Testament never said it was wrong, so how can people know they were suppose to stop it if the “Bible never said” slavery was wrong?
Now, all this is just thoughts on how some people try to take advantage of a desperate situation. These Pro black groups can speak out and people can complain, yet to say the President does not care about blacks “Americans” is wrong; it is more important that these black leaders encourage blacks to donate money to the Red Cross. It is more important to say thank you for the help that “non blacks are doing” and continue to do… All these salvations cost money. I can say that churches around the country and other organizations are donating money. Yet what are TV churches doing? It is time to move beyond racial finger pointing and time for blacks to open there homes to these blacks and poor people. How many people has Jesse Jackson or other rich black leaders taken into there homes today? We need to work together to help the Gulf States, not focus on creating race tensions. That is non American rhetoric!
I have friends of many races. I am “one of many” Americans that no longer focus on color, but on what a person contributes to America. If you feel things are bad because of color, why have you not volunteered to help these poor people get better education? Why have you not voted to change welfare and make rules for projects that make them “responsible” for keeping their neighborhoods clean and crime free? You might say to me ‘I do not have the time’. Well, it is our entire job to make America great. People in this country can have good lives, but they have to work and not be dependent on welfare. We need to create new jobs and teach values about race, but we do not need to take our attention off helping the injured to focus on bogus racial complaints!
