 The Bible God

It is not my intention to in any way, to discredit or defame the Christian God of the Bible.  My sole intent is to shed light on the truths revealed in the “Holy Book”, as it is written, concerning the true nature of  “God”.  Those of us who were raised in a “Christian” family, were taught early on, the grandeur of the ‘Living God’ of the Bible…. His loving kindness; His care and concern for all of His creations.  Devout and godly men of the cloth, to worship, and beseech us to turn our lives and our hearts to the Lord above.  “God is good…God is love…..”  How often I have heard that phrase throughout my life as a practicing Christian.  But, what we never hear about, and subsequently kept ignorant of, is the dark side of God.  All you have to do is peruse the Bible with a truly objective mind, and you will find a plethora of accounts that are less-than-obligatory regarding our Lord. 

 

He is ‘wrathful’…..Exodus 32:11
And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

 

Leviticus 10:6
And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.

 

Numbers 11:33
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

 

Nahum 1:2
God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies……and it goes on and on …..!

 

He sends ‘evil-spirits’ into hapless individuals….(He created evil)!

 

 Judges 9:23
Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech.

 

1 Samuel 16:14
But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

 

1 Kings 22:23
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee

 

Exodus 11:4

So Moses said, "This is what the LORD says: 'About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. 5 Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the slave girl, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well.

 

Samuel 24:15
So the LORD sent a plague on Israel from that morning until the end of the time designated, and seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died.

 

Amos 4:10
"I sent plagues among you as I did to Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps, yet you have not returned to me," declares the LORD .

 

Leviticus 21:16

16 The LORD said to Moses, 17 "Say to Aaron: 'For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God. 18 No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed; 19 no man with a crippled foot or hand, 20 or who is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles. 21 No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the offerings made to the LORD by fire. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God. 22 He may eat the most holy food of his God, as well as the holy food; 23 yet because of his defect, he must not go near the curtain or approach the altar, and so desecrate my sanctuary. I am the LORD , who makes them holy. [5] ' "

 

“(Doesn’t sound much like a kind and loving God to me…)

 

Genesis 17:14

And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

 

Exodus 4:11

And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

Exodus 35:2

Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.

 

 

Numbers 11:1

And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

 

 

Numbers 25:4

And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.

 

 

2 Chronicles 15:13

That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

 

 

Why did God give man free will then punish him for using it?  God created Satan then permitted him to invade “Paradise” and tempt Eve.  God is responsible for the fall of man

 then, right?. 

 

1 Samuel 16:14

14 Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil [1] spirit from the LORD tormented him.
15 Saul's attendants said to him, "See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you…..

 

My intelligent mind tells me that to worship a god who created evil, uses it to his own purposes, then punishes those who practice it is a confused entity, and one I wish to have no part of. 

  DEIST Worldview (of historical interest)

A “Creator” has apparently formed our universe (the mechanistic universe of Descartes and Newton) and set it in motion by mathematical laws that include rational principles of conduct. Divine control is consistent and rational. After establishing these laws, the Creator has retired from the scene, leaving the Creation to pursue its rational course. Having shaped the universe as a perfectly rational machine, this deity is aloof (not a God of miracles and revelation).

 

 

 Our nation's Declaration of Independence, the charter that created the United States of America, contains these words:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

“Sounds good to me”!
