Tender in the night

 Multi Light.jpg (474654 bytes)

The long day is over.  I huddle beneath my blankets and prepare myself for rest.  It’s a ritual I learned at a very young age.  I can remember when I was very young, how surprise I was every time I went to sleep, I would awaken with the sunshine and a bright blue sky! Absolute infatuation with the many delights provided in natural wonders by a loving God.  When I look at all the food that is vegetable or fruit, I am supremely satisfied with the knowledge that it was created for only human consumption.  Oh yes animals can try to get to it, but nothing beats the wonderful aroma of dinner cooking.  It is a sweet relished aroma. The home is alive with the sounds of knives chopping.

I hear the crisp sounds of bell pepper being sliced, 100% grade A beef grilling, and the mashed potatoes with much butter and gravy.  I can look around, close my eyes, and sniff the air.  Sometimes, I’ll walk outside and stand there for about five minutes’ just so I can come back inside and be totally overwhelmed by the smell and aroma of delicious food baking.  I have no doubt that the most popular restaurants are created by people who love to cook.  It is in those restaurants that we gather with our friends.  We all sit together to share in a meal.  Drinking freely and laughing loudly as we discuss the events we have just witnessed.  Be it a concert, a theatrical play, or just out on the town for a night of dancing!

It is within these intimate moments that we share our Joy and our hope with those we love. And there are those moments in the evening where we decided to have a barbecue, or an outdoor cookout.  We set up our tents somewhere in the middle of the forest.  We gather together to make a safe and secure fire, and we tell ghost stories all night long.  Waiting for the stars to come out and bedazzle us now’ that we have finally got far enough away~ from the city lights.  And we enjoy occasions in the sleeping bag with anticipation and romantic intrigue.  Sometimes we do not sleep at all and go find a nice cliff to sit upon with quilts wrapped around us, as we watch the morning sun come over the horizon’ in the Valley.

I can look back on my life and think of all the many times I have put myself to rest.  I choose to focus on the most pleasurable because those are the ones I want to maintain’ as I get old.  Filled with membranes, I can recollect the many adventures I challenged myself to participate in.  I was never one to do anything halfway. Therefore, I find it a supreme pleasure when I am permitted an undisturbed slumber.  Whether I have dreams or not, I am just grateful for the sleep.  And even though I am much older than I used to be, I still find it quite amazing that when I go to sleep it is dark.  Yet upon awakening, I am greeted by the sunshine, and the blue sky.  Is this not one of the most wonderful aspects of participating in the human race?
