“REGRETS”

I suppose if I were to line up all of my regrets in a row, the one leading the group would be that I was never able to give my mother grandchildren.

Being an only child, my turning out gay was a real blow to my mom.

That’s why I feel angry today…. Because of a horny, teenage cousin who sodomized me daily for months and months, I was robbed of not only my childhood, but of my choice to be gay or straight!  Because I had no real comparison between male and female sex, (having had a few unsatisfying sexual encounters with women) I naturally took the road most traveled, “GAY”!

I live with an exceptionally brilliant and gifted roommate, who harbors no prejudices against me because of my “gayness”!  He is “straight”, and a beautiful 36 year old man.  Talk about the “Odd-Couple”!  Here I am, 61 years old and in love with a straight man 25 years my junior.  Yes, I am in love with him, but ours is strictly a non-sexual relationship…. (Doggone it!)  The truth is, I prayed to God for Him to put a man in my life to love, which He did.  He just didn’t want me to have a sexual relationship with him.  I wouldn’t trade our friendship/relationship for anything in the world.

I am addressing this writing to all those gay men out there my age and older.  Don’t miss out on a wonderful relationship because he doesn’t find you sexually desirable.  Come on guys…we are over 60!  It’s time to start cementing lasting friendships because we aren’t going to last forever!  If you are as blessed as I am, having my Tom in my life, you will have found your treasure.  Don’t spend long, lonely days regretting that you don’t have a sex partner.  Be grateful for your “friends”, and let your right hand take care of the rest.  We had our “day-in-the-sun”, so take a closer look at your straight friend, maybe he is the one who will fill your life with boundless joy, as my wonderful friend has done for me.

I leave you with this:

“Make new friends

But keep the old,

One is silver

The other, gold”.
