Guardian Angels

For the most part, people really do not give credit to the truce that the Bible tells them.  For we speak of Angels as though they are some heavenly beings floating around watching and waiting to rescue us.  Oddly, I have come to know the true Angels of life.  And they are much more real than any imaginary friend could ever be.  I myself may have been one at one time, to another who the angel of mercy they needed. For there have been people who by the words they spoke and by the help they offered, I could not have made it another day without them.

I often wonder what part we are responsible for?  If we see someone in need and have the opportunity to help them; yet, choose not to, will not God on judgment day ask us why we neglected one of his children?  I have been guilty of walking away when someone needed my help, and I have felt the shame and Guilt of my selfishness.  I find it most important to remember, yes remember my duty as a Christian.  How can I ask for mercy when I refuse to give mercy or charity when the opportunity arises?

God uses all of us to see if we will merit the honor of becoming angels in his kingdom when we die, or be rewarded to “their alliance” with demons and the Devil.  Many will say God cannot do that to me just because I was too scared to help.  Surely God understands the reasons why I chose not to get involved in a certain situation?  Could I not plead my case to the Lord and explain why I had better things to do?  I am a bright and intelligent person; surely the lord would award me for that, more than wasting my time trying to help those less fortunate?

An angel must have a conscience, as humans we must learn to develop our conscience.  For if we think because we feel no guilt that we will escape judgment, we lie to ourselves only. Sadly, we all believed in good.  At some point in our development we lost our conscience and believed human strength was the greatest and only destination.  If not for the preachers, missionaries, and evangelist, we would know no mercy.  We would live a life never being able to prepare for death.  Have I tried lately to earn my wings?
