Evening Tied As I slip off my shoes, and walked down the sandy hill. It is at this moment when my eyes see on the horizon a sun beginning its journey toward the sleepy side of its universe. The sand is cool as my feet walk the length of the beach. I smell salt air wisp into my nose filling me with the aroma of an ocean breeze. The glow out across the waters is in the beginning stages of orange turning to starlet red. I drop my shoes on the sand and slowly lower my body to squat. My fingers dig deep as I slowly pull them through the particles that can be picked up, heated, and made into glass. My eyes look up enjoying the ocean change from indigo too deep rich blue. Far away the deep glow within its decent, I catch the remainder of a red eye staring back at me. I decide to sit and rest my bones as I cross my legs. It is at this moment that I hear sounds of the waves crashing so powerfully as if pulling the sun down by their mere force. I see now only the green eye as the ocean swallows the light. The sky becomes crimson, purple, and filled with stars. My ball of fire that keeps me warm all day has decided that time has come for evening to do her part. I stand and look to see the star of life has taken off; however, I know he will return tomorrow. The cool air surrounds me, and urges me to return to a place that is warm and safe. I returned to a place where I can slip my shoes back on. I walk forward into the night, remembering- what I have seen. Thomas A. SUTOR P.O. Box 2343 Lompoc CA 93438 |
